Depression and Anxiety

A person's mood is directly related to their thoughts. Negative, dysfunctional, or “maladaptive” thinking affects your sense of self, behavior, and even physical state. Maladaptive thoughts can lead to mindless or impulsive behaviors, anxiety, and depression in a downward spiral.

The goal of therapy is for you to learn to recognize maladaptive patterns of thoughts and behaviors and replace them with healthier ways of thinking, feeling and doing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a very effective treatment for depression and anxiety. CBT focuses on specific problems and is goal-oriented. It is educational and collaborative. You take an active role in your treatment, with homework between sessions.
